What is pro and contra of combined bellows and receiver vs. separated ones? Thank you!

Both versions are good. The organ is a modular system, and any module can be separated to a significant distance. Look at church organs where the manual (keyboard) is on a balcony, the pipes are on the wall, and air pump and receiver are in the basement!
However, we can say the separated bellows and receiver are easier to make (another words these are cheaper) and easier to service and repair. These are more reliable too. That is why I have designed this system for my street organs - to make them less expensive and more reliable. Thank you for your question!

I just recently retired but would like to stay busy. Do people play their organs in public for money? Are there any organs that have been used and are for sale? Can you recommend any books on the history of organ grinding? Can I come and visit your workshop? Thanks for keeping this art alive.

1. They do. I tried to be a street grinder in Provincetown, Cape Cod, MA. For several hours I collected average $25 per hour. It were not easy money, however. And keep in mind, that the traffic was huge! Another possibility is to be hired to play in events - art and craft shows, birthday party, etc. - for say $200 a day. You also can offer organ(s0 for rent to family events. That's what I am thinking about. BTW, it would be interesting to read about making money with street organs from you, dear visitors.

3. I did not meet the books on this subject. There is a very interesting article in the 1895 Russian magazine about early Italian and German grinders in St. Petersburg, , but it's in Russian...

4. You are always welcome to my workshop, but there is not always interesting staff in it to see...

Thanks you for your remarks. I agree that it is hard work with no guarantee of an income but that's not really what I would be after. I will email you about used organs and begin saving for one of you kit organs immediately. Thank you
