OLDFELLOW-16
OLDFELLOW-16 is a small street organ designed by ZAYA-RUZO. The idea of creating a compact and light but still “professional grade” organ came from early 20 century models that had just 16 pipes and clear loud sound due to the “closed” wooden organ pipes.
Although OLDFELLOW-16 has only 16 pipes it can produce 19 notes. That is why a lot of music are available for this model, either in major, or natural minor, or harmonic minor keys. The “secret” is that three of 16 pipes can be momentarily re-tuned before starting a new tune, - just by pushing or pulling the knob(s) on the top of the organ. Every perforated ribbon (called ORGAN BOOK) for the OLDFELLOW-16 has a small diagram indicated which of three knobs have to be pushed down or pull off prior to performing this particular music.
The folding “book” is used for this organ (vs. paper rolls). The organ book is made of strong cardboard that may serve for decades. It is very convenient as no rewinding process is necessary while using a book. Hundreds tune books are available from the respectable French company LETURLUTAIN for this organ. One book is included to any order, as well as special TUNING CARD for tuning the pipes.
The blanks of books are available as well, so you even can produce your own tune.
OLDFELLOW-16 is available in two modifications: completely ready and in “skeleton” form. The second version is a ready playable organ without outer decorative box or panels. Spend weekend or two to create your own design of the organ box and save!
